prior to taking this class i knew very little about wines and didn’t really have an interest in them. i just drank wine to get drunk. Now my mindset has changed for better and i am starting to appreciate wines more. i taste them to try and see if i can tell what it is that i am tasting and smell wines before tasting them to heighten my experience and take the time to enjoy the glass and figure out what it is i do and do not like about the wine. now i know the reasons why there are different bottle shapes and that a Cabernet Sauvignon will most likely be found in a Bordeaux bottle because Cabernet Sauvignon can exude sediment and the shoulders on the Bordeaux bottle holds that junk back for a better drink.

Coming into class i preffered white wines and now i love those New World “punch in the face kick in the dick” red wines like the malbec and shiraz and i honestly have no clue why i enjoy the strength of these wines. i still like white wines and found a new one to enjoy which is the Torrentes from Argentina. the least appealing to me was the sparkling wines. i didn’t enjoy the fizzing feeling in my mouth and thought that they tasted like seltzer water or club soda. Maybe i would enjoy it paired with something but by itself that was my least favorite.
