The first week starting in the front of the house I was running food. Then the next day our expeditor didn’t show up so I then was in charge of making sure the food was going out when it was suppose to. It sounded confusing to some people, but all you do really is call out what food you need and wait for empty plates to come back so you can call out your next order. In order to have a good flow, everyone needs to work together. Drinks need to be filled, water tended to, clean silverware when needed, and the food from the kitchen to the customer in a timely matter.
Having a great service for the cafe is what will make people come back again and again. When I was serving, the people were wanting to try something new and were looking for the experience of french cuisine. Helping the customers understand the menu was one of the fun times. parts of the menu were a little hard to pronounce, but I tried my best. Mostly everyone needed translation, so that was pretty easy.
Front of the house is a great way to learn how to be a team and how to work together to make things run smoothly.
